Syracuse
Alan and I had the opportunity to go on another business trip together. He has been attending a series of estate planning seminars around the U.S. I got to go to Chicago with him a few months ago and this time the firm paid for me to travel with him to Syracuse, New York, because he had to bring his paralegal with him this time. I'm always excited when I get a free get-away with Alan. I do feel guilty that I just relax the whole time while he is in seminars all day though. I watched movies, scrapbooked, read, and...that's about it, for three days. I'm really glad I got to get to know Alan's paralegal, Kathy, better. It's so crazy that Alan has this totally separate life from ours at home. Sometimes I forget that he associates with all these people so much. It was nice to feel included in it for a few days (even though it felt like I was trying to translate a different language the entire time) - law is complicated and tiring to listen to if you ask me. I'm glad I went. We went out to dinner every night and really enjoyed each other's company. It was the last hurrah before school and real life started at home.
